Paxton’s Tower

One of the most spectacular vistas in Carmarthenshire can be found from Paxton's Tower, a neo-Gothic folly dating from the beginning of the 19th century. Following a lightning strike in the 1970’s the central tower roof had been replaced with a flat concrete roof and the battlements roughly re-built. By the late 1990’s the concrete roof had deteriorated allowing water to penetrate the structure. Extensive works were carried out to restore the central tower and three turrets using traditional materials and construction techniques.
